Google lanza Chrome, su nuevo navegador
Ahora a surfear por la red con el navegador de Google, se lo llamará Chromear. Acuño este término que hace referencia a la acción de navegar por la web utilizando el navegador Chrome.
A continuación transcribo la gacetilla de prensa emitida ayer por Google Inc sobre el lanzamiento de su navegador
El Nuevo Navegador de Código Abierto Combina Simplicidad de Uso Para el Usuario con la Tecnología Más Sofisticada
Google lanzó Google Chrome™, un nuevo navegador de código abierto que buscará brindarles a usuarios en todo el mundo, una mejor experiencia en la red. Disponible en 43 idiomas, Google Chrome es una nueva propuesta de navegador, basada en la simplicidad y poder que los usuarios esperan de cualquier producto de Google.
En los principios de Internet, las páginas web rara vez contenían algo más que simple texto. Hoy, la red ha evolucionado y es una plataforma tan poderosa, que permite a los usuarios colaborar con amigos y colegas a través del email y otras aplicaciones web, editar de documentos, mirar videos, escuchar música, manejar sus finanzas y mucho más. Google Chrome fue construido para la Red de hoy, y las aplicaciones de mañana.
“Nosotros pensamos en el Navegador como una ventana a la Red - una herramienta para que los usuarios interactúen con los sitios y aplicaciones que más les gusten, y es importante no estorbar en el camino de esa experiencia”, dijo Sundar Pichai, Vicepresidente de Gerencia de Productos, Google Inc. “Justo como la página de inicio clásico de Google, Google Chrome tiene una interfaz de usuario sencilla, con un sistema sofisticado que habilita el uso de la red moderna.”
Creando una mejor experiencia de red para usuarios
Google Chrome fue diseñado para darle al usuario una experiencia más sencilla en la navegación y el contenido que busca específicamente.
* Una barra de búsqueda y dirección combinada lleva al usuario a donde quiere ir, tipeando unas pocas letras o palabras
* Cuando los usuarios abren una nueva pestaña en Google Chrome, podrán visualizar una página con imágenes de los sitios que más visitan, búsquedas recientes y marcadores, haciendo fácil la navegación.
Google Chrome está creado para proveer una experiencia nunca antes vista. En su base, es una plataforma multi-procesos que ayuda a brindarle a los usuarios seguridad y estabilidad.
* Cada pestaña del navegador corre en un proceso independiente; al aislar las pestañas, si una se traba o tiene comportamientos poco usuales, las demás se mantienen estables y funcionales, así los usuarios pueden continuar trabajando sin tener que reiniciar Google Chrome.
* Google también incluyó un nuevo motor JavaScript, V8, que no solamente acelera las aplicaciones web de hoy, pero que habilita toda una nueva generación de aplicaciones web que no podrían existir en los navegadores existentes.
Contribuyendo con la innovación en navegadores, a través del código abierto
“Al entender esto como un proceso fundamental de como las personas piensan acerca de los navegadores, nos dimos cuenta de que no podríamos haber creado Google Chrome solos” comentó Linus Upson, Director de Ingeniería. “Google Chrome fue construido en base a otros proyectos de código abierto, que contribuyen mucho a la tecnología de navegadores y nos ayudan a impulsar la competitividad e innovación”.
Para llevar más allá la apertura de la web, Google Chrome se pone a disposición de la comunidad de desarrolladores como un proyecto de código abierto. Lo que buscamos es que Google ayude a los navegadores del futuro a ser mejores, brindando la tecnología de la plataforma de Google Chrome al mercado, mientras se continúan desarrollando características adicionales.

Google Chrome fue liberado en versión beta para Windows y puede ser descargado en 40 idiomas diferentes incluído el español en http://www.google.com/chrome.
